SUMMARY OF ROLE

 

We are seeking 1-2 year qualified associates in England & Wales. You will provide commercial legal advice, assistance and representation to clients on a wide range of commercial litigation matters to include:

 

  • disputes arising out of commercial contracts;

  • shareholder disputes;

  • international joint venture disputes;

  • warranty litigation;

  • civil fraud litigation;

  • misrepresentation and misappropriation claims

  • asset recovery and protection;

  • insolvency related disputes;

  • competition litigation, including private follow-on damages claims; and mis-selling, misconduct, misrepresentation,deceit, fraud, breach of duty, contractual interpretation and breach of transactional documentation claims;

  • contentious restructurings and;

  • structured finance disputes.
     

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Draft and review legal documents to ensure clarity and consistency.

  • Create solutions using your legal knowledge.

  • Liaise directly with clients and third parties (including barristers, clerks and litigation support service providers).

  • Maintain professional relations with clients.

  • Challenge and test advice against legal compliance and risks.

  • Manage matters with a disciplined practice including timely timesheet submission and conflicts clearance processes.

  • Participate in business development, pro bono and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

  • Comply with professional standards and legal regulations and be proactive to expand your legal knowledge.

 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales with proven experience in litigation from a top tier firm or boutique.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills advising clients, attending in-person or remote meetings.

  • Excellent drafting skills, strong technical skills and comfortable researching and applying complex areas of law (including, for example, the ability to draft letters before claim, concise letters of advice, instructions to Counsel, Court documentation and settlement agreements).

  • Strong team player with the ability to mange a complex, varied and fast paced workload appropriate for level of PQE

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to use initiative; identify problems, gather data, develop and assess alternative courses of action.

  • Confident in making timely decisions based on logical assumptions, using all available information.

  • Proactive self-starter who works well without close supervision but also receptive to receiving instructions.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, high tolerance in stressful situations and resilient

  • Mature approach to client business development and commercially aware of the client’s business.

  • Exceptionally driven, is ambitious to learn and on a steep upward trajectory at present firm and looking to move to an even more demanding and stimulating challenge.
