We are seeking a 0-4 year PQE associate to join Arnold & Porter’s Corporate team in London, part of our global Corporate & Finance Group. This is an exciting opportunity for an associate who wants more responsibility and a broad range of corporate/M&A work, as well as exposure to life sciences transactional matters. The team currently has one corporate partner and three associates. Other members of the team include a banking partner, a financial services regulatory partner and a life sciences transactional partner.
Our Corporate team in London advises on a full range of corporate matters, including M&A (mainly private M&A), equity and debt capital markets, private equity/venture capital transactions, joint ventures, and complex life sciences licences, collaborations and commercial contracts.
The Corporate team works across all major sectors, but with a market-leading specialism in life sciences. Our clients range from the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, to fast-growing biotech companies, to large technology companies.
Virtually all of our work is cross-border. We work closely with our colleagues in the US, notably in New York, as well as top-tier regulatory and antitrust practices both in Europe and the US. We are a small team, who punch above our weight, and work closely together to deliver great outcomes for our clients.
Key Requirements
Driven, ambitious, enthusiastic, 0-4 year PQE associates with excellent academic achievements and a desire to work on a broad range of corporate transactions. The candidate will need a strong interest in private M&A, which is the cornerstone of our practice. The ideal candidate would also have experience (or an interest) in the life sciences sector, and be keen to get involved in not only M&A transactions but also collaborations, licensing and other major commercial transactions in the life sciences sector.
We are interested in candidates from top international law firms and US firms, and firms with a strong reputation in life sciences transactions.
Role and Responsibilities
The role will include:
-
Taking responsibility for managing aspects of corporate and commercial transactions.
-
Advising on key areas of company law.
-
Drafting key and ancillary transaction documents.
-
Using initiative to provide solutions to our clients.
-
Liaising with lawyers across the firm as well as local counsel across the world.
-
Delegation and supervision where appropriate.
-
Supporting business development activity.
